Tempest Rally 2000

The world of rallying rolls its way into Aldershot this weekend with 90 crews vying to be the quickest around the demanding MoD and Forest land. The Rally takes place in the Aldershot and Bramshill Forest area this Sunday, and is organised by local motor clubs.

Farnborough-based David Perrelet enters the rally after his 13th position last year and a rather forgettable season in between. Ravaged by lack of sponsorship and mechanical problems to his Peugoet, Perrelet and his co-driver Stefan Arndt - 10th in the recent Peugeot 106 Cup - have been hard at work in the garage in recent weeks preparing for what they believe is one of the best rallies on the circuit.

The team is not short of support this time round. The guys have been out canvassing local bussinesses and now have the sponsorship and support of most of their neighbours.

Backed mainly by PUG Performance of Alton, Perrelet said:

"This is a tough rally this year, there are some big cars in it and it's going to be very difficult. We are confident though and believe that if things go our way then we can make the top ten, although that's a tall order."

The British Army Rally Team is also sending six rally Land Rovers, who have just returned from competition in Iceland and Germany.

The Rally is a true family day out and anyone is welcome at any point during the day. - Fleet News (3/11/00)
